She had Shug
Shug left, she was alone
She showed her she can love
She showed her to hate
She was always left with MR.

She hit a White male, and was in my impression was in jail. She was kind of a slave, becuase she was always with the white women that couldnt drive at all. I wasnt really sure what her punishment was.

explain with two examples of why Shug is different in the movie than the book
Compare Cillie to any other character in this class
explain how I am Like Cillie
The movie ended with Cillie’s husband paying for the immigration of Netti and her both son Adam and daughter Olivia back home. In the book, He did no pay for that. I think they changed the ending to show that he grew as a person and was trying to fix the wrongs that he did in life. It makes for a happy ending for all, to a sad situation.
The two main difference that I see that shug was different were, she was a temptress all out in the book, and not as much in the movie. She was always tempting different men in the movie, but it wasnt as pronounced as I saw it in the book. The other difference was that Shug made friends with Cillie over night in the movie. I think that they had to do this because of the time allowance, but it took a lot more for them to get as close as they were in the book.
Cillie I think is a lot like Sardathas friend that followed him everywhere. I can’t remember his name, but she for most of the story was very passive and submissive. She followed people and did what she was told. Sardatha’s friend did the same thing he followed him through his journey thew life, doing what he was told.
The only place where i saw myself like Cillie, was at the end when she finally stood up for her self, and became a strong person. I am like this all the time. I am always standing up for what I believe, try to always do right in the world. I am a very determined and stubborn person. I saw this in Cillie at the end when she finally left her husband.

I know i can do it

Posted in Uncategorized on November 1, 2009 by chapmanblairgtjpThe mater of two worlds is when the hero comes back to his original home and has conquered both the alien world and his home world. Since the hero has conquered both of them he can travel through either at anytime without the challenges that he first encountered. He now is balenced with his mind and character” as we discussed in class. With the last three that go together, Crossing the return threshold, Master of two worlds, and Freedom to live, we talked about how you need to come home to cross the threshold of coming back, then you have mastered both of the worlds. We used the lion king, and how Simba brought back Timmon and Pumba. They were from the other world, so that would be crossing from one into the other.
The most obvious example for me would be IUP and home. Going from one to the other would be the master of two worlds, because they are completely different. although i never felt that i had a problem going home so the crossing the return threshold wasnt a problem for me, but keeping up with both worlds posses new challenges. An example i am up here almost cut off from what is going on at home. Last fri i had received a call from my mother saying that my great-aunt passed away. Now i am trying to balance both worlds and trying to mourn for her at the same time.
In Over My Head
I’m five feet ten inches tall
Average height for an American male
When standing in three feet of water
my head is well above water
When standing in six feet of water
I’m slightly in over my head, and
I can jump up and down, and
bring my head above water
When standing in twelve feet of water
I’m considerably in over my head
Short of floating to the surface
there’s no way to get my head above water
At the bottom of a deep glacier lake
I’m really in over my head
There’s no standing, even for a second
at this unfathomable depth
Clearly, there’s no trouble
understanding any of this
So, why can’t I figure out
when I am in over my head in life?
Why don’t I realize that
when I say yes to 5 work projects
due in the same week
that I am in over my head?
Why do I fail to grasp the insanity
of working twelve-hour days
five days a week, and
two four-hour days on weekends?
Thanks to GE former-CEO Jack Welch
there is a business concept called a stretch goal
which refers to performance expectations
exceeding resources available to reach them
Am I a victim of too many stretch goals?
Have I mistaken myself for a fish
with the ability to breathe underwater?
Gee, maybe I’m in over my head!
By Don Lannone
This is the poem that i found. I believe that it represents trying to balance two worlds. How it can be too much at times or just over your head, but you can still struggle through it.
